Fool's Gold Clubhouse Vol. 1 & 2

image

Curated by A-Trak & Catchdubs, Fool’s Gold Clubhouse is a series of free, monthly compilations featuring brand new dance records from the label’s friends and family. They’ve just released their second compilation yesterday but since this is our first mention of the series on Hot Shit, we’ll embed both volumes over here (if you want to download the tracks, head here and here). Our personal fave is Anna Lunoe’s “Up and Down” from the first series. Stream it below!

Say Lou Lou - Maybe You (Minimix)

Saint Lou Lou Say Lou Lou are the latest to sign to the Kitsuné and we are happy to let you know that the French label has not lost any of its scouting skills. The duo is composed of twin sisters who are Australians-raised but now based in Sweden, and it shows in their sound which bounces between the long cold winters of Stockholm, and the happy-go-lucky beaches of Sydney. The EP will also include remixes by the Miami Horror’s drummer Good Night Keaton, CFCF, Oxford & Le Crayon and Pyramid. It comes out on August 27th, but you can get a taste of it from the minimix posted below.

Reptile Youth - Black Swan Born White (remixes)

image

We’ve featured the awesome Danish duo that is Reptile Youth on the site many times, including a couple of posts about their most recent single “Black Swan Born White” and its remixed versions. They’ve since made videos for two of the more-than-amazing-can’t-stop-listening-it’s-seven-shades-of-awesome remixes by S.C.U.M. and Keep Shelly In Athens (on top of the video for the orignal version) and we couldn’t help but post both of them here for your viewing (and listening) pleasures.

This review was written by collaborator Natasha Garcia, a photographer from New York currently based in Stockholm and also a friend of Hot Shit. You can catch her reviews here every Thursday.

Chvrches - Lies

image

Churches are an electro pop trio from Glasgow consisting of Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry. They’re like a superband as they all came from other well known Scottish bands such as Aereogramme (Cook), The Twilight Sad (Mayberry) and Blue Sky Archives (Doherty) and though many people in the media are calling this a side project, they have affirmed the public that it is not and that they plan on making it big under the name Churches. And you know what? With their dance hooks, magnetic synths and soaring female vocals, we have no doubt they will. Their first single “Lies” is one of the best tunes we’ve heard all year. Coming at full speed, check it out below and make your ears happy.

Starred - Call from Paris

image

Starred is a duo that is comprised of Liza Thorn and Matthew Koshak, originally from Los Angeles but now based in Brooklyn. Not a whole lot of info is there on these two apart from the fact Liza used to be in band called Curls (with Christopher Owens, former frontman of Girls) and in another one called Bridez a few years back. She eventually crossed paths with producer/engineer Koshak and started working on a record with him with one goal in mind: to make a big splash as Starred. With their melodic, hypnotizing and powerful tunes, we think a storm is about unleash when the band’s 6-song 12” EP Prison to Prison drops via Pendu Sound this Fall. The band has two videos out so far—both directed by Grant Singer—if you want get a taste of what’s go come. Check ‘em out below.
